Our Projects — Health & Rights
RMNCAH
Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child & Adolescent Health
ACF is a proven leader in advancing Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH). Through strategic partnerships, we empower young people, strengthen grassroots networks, and drive community-led advocacy to protect bodily autonomy and advance youth rights across Malawi.
1. The FAM Subgrant Project
Focus: Eradicating Child Marriage & Championing SRHR Legal Reforms
This initiative contributed directly to the national movement against child marriage. By engaging girls on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and mobilizing communities, the project successfully protected thousands of young girls from early, child, and forced marriages (CEFM) and unintended pregnancies.
Advocacy Activities Implemented
Legal Reform & Policy Advocacy
Championed national legislative reforms to strengthen laws against child marriage and protect youth reproductive rights.
Grassroots Capacity Building
Trained and equipped 16 Women's Rights Groups, transforming them into autonomous, highly coordinated, and effective local advocacy networks.
Community Mobilization
Led large-scale social behavioural change campaigns across 179 villages to dismantle the cultural acceptance of child marriage.
Direct Youth Empowerment
Delivered tailored SRHR and comprehensive sexuality education directly to 6,700 girls, equipping them with the knowledge to claim their rights and prevent unplanned pregnancies.
2. The ACT Now Project
Focus: Expanding Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE)
Implemented across three key districts in Malawi, the ACT Now project broke down barriers to vital health information. It ensured adolescents both inside and outside the classroom received age-appropriate, scientifically accurate, and inclusive education regarding their bodies and health.
Advocacy Activities Implemented
Multistakeholder Engagement
Formed powerful advocacy coalitions by uniting educators, parents, community leaders, and policymakers to support adolescent health education.
Institutionalizing Quality CSE
Successfully advocated for and integrated inclusive, non-judgmental, and rights-based CSE curricula into 47 schools across Central Malawi.
Inclusion & Gender Equality Advocacy
Championed educational spaces that reject discrimination and stigma, ensuring that health information is accessible to all young people regardless of gender or background.
Protecting Bodily Autonomy, Advancing Youth Rights
From ending child marriage to bringing quality CSE to 47 schools, our RMNCAH work keeps girls in school, informed, and in charge of their own futures.
